📝 Applying for a Rental
When you find a property you love, contact the landlord directly through FindMyNest. Have your ID, proof of income and references ready to go.
📋 Your Rights as a Tenant
Under the Residential Tenancies Act, you have strong rights as a renter in NZ. Landlords must provide a healthy, safe home that meets Healthy Homes Standards.
💰 Bond & Rent
Bond is capped at 4 weeks rent and must be lodged with Tenancy Services. Rent can only be increased once every 12 months with 60 days notice.

Research similar properties in your area before setting your price. Overpriced listings stay vacant longer — a competitive rent means faster tenants.
✅ Healthy Homes Standards
All rentals in NZ must comply with Healthy Homes Standards covering heating, insulation, ventilation, moisture and drainage. Non-compliance can result in fines up to $7,200.
📋 Tenancy Agreements
Always have a written tenancy agreement. You can use the standard Tenancy Services agreement or a solicitor-prepared one.

Use of Platform
FindMyNest is a marketplace connecting landlords and renters in New Zealand. Users must be 18 or over. All listings must be accurate, genuine and comply with New Zealand law.
Landlord Responsibilities
Landlords are responsible for ensuring their properties comply with the Residential Tenancies Act 1986, Healthy Homes Standards, and all applicable NZ legislation.
Renter Responsibilities
Renters must provide accurate information in applications. FindMyNest is a listing platform only — tenancy agreements are between landlords and renters directly.
Limitation of Liability
FindMyNest acts as a marketplace only and is not a party to any tenancy agreement. We are not liable for disputes between landlords and renters.
